1. Why BournemouthByNight? Why not? Being (officially) a tourist in Bournemouth as I've only lived here since 1997, I still find the original 'Bournemouth by night' postcards amusing. 2. What do you do for a living? I'm an Information Security Consultant providing all aspects of information security advice from technical vulnerability assessment through to business process analysis and policy production. 3. What are all these tools? Are you a hacker? Short answer: yes. Long answer: I provide technical vulnerability assessment services to Government and industry. I'm actually qualified to do such. In relation to this, I write tools to help me in my job. 4. But weren't you a DJ in a past life? Um, yes, kind of. I started out on University Radio York (999KHz), played out in York clubs and parties (mainly student events), Huddersfield SU, the Highlander IV (HIV) in Christchurch (for my sins), and numerous parties in Bournemouth. A few years ago some mates and I started a night called The Bunker in a bar on Old Christchurch Road, Bournemouth. It failed miserably (possibly because we weren't playing formulaic house and UK garage). 5. And weren't you in a band? Yes, BittaMocha. It's resting, okay? 6. I hear you don't have a lot of luck with cars? Err, yeah. A number of accidents due to circumstances beyond my control. Blow out on A338 at 70mph caused £2K damage to my car and £2.5K to the barrier I hit. Bumped off the A35 by a truck that didn't look wrote off a nearly-new Pug 406 due to hitting a tree and some speed. Bumped off the A34 by a truck that didn't look on Sept 12 2001 (known as 9/12) took off the side of my Pug 306DTurbo. I also owned a MG BGT which drained me off much spare cash under the guise of 'restoration'. My current 306 (since repair) is on its second engine and fourth turbo. But I'm not bitter... 7. What's this about Palm programming? I can write software for Palm. It's good fun, really; no, really. 8. Don't you hang around with alcoholics? Yeah. And they're all security consultants too. |
